Blue diamond almond milk review

Review of Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Unsweetened Almond Milk

I thought it was about time that I started to try some new dairy free milks. In years gone by it was hard get an alternative to cows milk and it was always from a health food store. The rapidly expansion of the free from market means that you can easily pop into your local supermarkets and find a suitable milk if you are are following a dairy and or lactose free diet. My favourite milk of choice at the moment is almond milk, especially the unsweetened variety. It is often lower in calories than it’s alternatives and is great to have on a fasting day on the 5:2 diet. I opted to choose Blue Diamond Almond Breeze unsweetened almond milk, I am not sure why, if I am honest it was a random choice. The only criteria was it had to be of the unsweetened variety. The packaging looks inviting showing a white milk being poured over almonds. A 100mls serving contains 29 calories, 2.3g of fat, 0.2g of sugar and 0.3g of salt.

I personally found it quiet difficult to open the seal to the carton. On opening the packet I found it hard to smell the almonds. On pouring the milk into the bowl it was a pale cream colour. It appeared to be slightly thinner in appearance making it look compared to other varieties of almond milk that I have tried.

I tasted it prior to heating up to have with my breakfast cereal. It lacked any real flavour and I felt was quite bland I personally found it hard to taste it’s nutty flavour. On heating the milk the colour and constancy remained the same. The flavour also remained bland. If you are following a dairy or lactose free diet or just wish to try some almond milk I wouldn’t recommend it. Sorry, Blue Diamond but I personally feel that I have had nicer unsweetened almond milks.

I agree, this is not one of my fav dairy alternatives either. I know soy gets a bad rap from a lot of people now, but I always go back to Silk Organic. Their almond milk is quite good too. thanks for your thoughtful review. 🙂
